Let us the parents decide what language to teach Science and Maths

The one thing that pisses me off here is Anwar, PAS, DAP, the NGOs and even MCA wanting to have Science and Maths taught in the mother tongue - Bahasa, Mandarin and Tamil. This is the only area where UMNO has it right - teaching these 2 subjects in English. I am talking as a parent and have talked to many other parents - Malays, Chinese and Indians and they are all in favour of these two subjects being taught in English. These two subjects if our children enters college will be taught in English and not other languages. Do the Malays even realise that why it is they are not so employable in the market? The reason is simple - their lack of proficiency in English. There were many times that I wanted to employ a Malay because I believe in a multiracial working place - it is fun as it exposes us to other cultures. The only problem was, I couldn't find one who is proficient in English so I employed Indians or Indian muslims instead coz they have better command of English. So, why stifle the progress of Malays especially?

POLITICIANS, who are you to decide for our children? We want the best for our children but you politicians only want the best for yourselves. If you care for the Malays, you would push for English to be taught even more so. You would try every measure to make sure the Malay children catch up in English. If our teachers cannot handle it, then get foreign teachers temporarily to do it. Take a look at Korea and China. They hire American teachers to teach their children. They are overtaking us and what do we do? Go backwards!

I voted for PR in the last election and influenced my friends and relatives to do so too. However, this might not be the case again if PR insists on teaching Science and Maths in the mother tongue. I do not want my children to study these subjects in Bahasa or Mandarin coz they are of no benefit to them.

what i think is that the author is grading our children as geniuses, ALL of them.

Do you really represent all the parents out there? if not, why would you mention that the policy you voice out is the parents' decision?

Actually many people in MCA wants the science and maths to be taught in english and have also brought up the matter to the relevant ministers.

sadly, all these politicians even in Pakatan Rakyat also wants it to be reverted back to Malay for the sake of fishing for the votes for their next election.

I for once do not want these two language to be reverted back.

Many terms used in maths and sciences can only be explained properly through english, even my teachers back in the early 90s have to use english terms to teach us as there is just not many ways to explain certain things in malay when it comes to those subjects.

I'm just worried what it'll be like for my son to switch from english to malay once he enters secondary school.
